ABOUT

Who We Are
We are the Kids Ministry of Lakewood Baptist Church: a ministry to kids from birth through 5th grade and their families. On Sundays and Wednesdays, we gather in Kids Cove (our Kids Ministry Facility). Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ by helping kids LOVE God, LOVE people, and LEARN His Word. You can read below to find out more about what takes place on Sundays and Wednesdays, along with upcoming events and ways we partner with parents to invest in spiritual development within the next generation.

Kids Cove
Kids Cove is our expansive kids ministry space in which we have three unique learning environments. WeeCare is a designated, secure space where we provide care for our smallest kids (birth to 2 years old). GroZone is a multi-classroom space with an indoor playground where we minister to our preschoolers (ages 2-5). Finally, the Kids Cove area is designed to accomodate large and small group gatherings for our grade school children (Kindergarten through 5th grade).

Lakewood Kids Weekday
Kids Cove Weekday is an extension of our preschool ministry to children and their families. We offer a half day program (8:45 AM – 12:45 PM) with two, three and five-day options available for children 12 months through four years (PreK). We are blessed to have teachers that love the Lord and children and offer activities throughout the school year to provide hands-on learning with an engaging curriculum. We work alongside parents during this time in a child’s life to help provide academic and scriptural foundation.

Wednesdays in Preschool
PRESCHOOL
Our preschoolers develop a missions heart as they move from a focus on themselves to a focus on others on Wednesday nights from 6:15-7:45. Preschoolers will grow toward God as they become aware that God wants everyone to know of His love.

Wednesdays in Kids
GRADE SCHOOL
On Wednesday evenings during the school year we gather for our Kids Ministry Wednesday Night programs from 6:15-7:45 PM. This mid-week program helps Grade Schoolers build a lasting foundation of Bible Skills and Bible memorization, experience small group discipleship, and offers a deep emphasis on missions.
Parents

Overview of Parent Ministry
We believe that parents are called to be the primary spiritual leaders for their kids (see Deuteronomy 6:1-9 and Ephesians 6:4). Our role in church is to come alongside parents and support you in this incredible responsibility by reinforcing the truths you are teaching in your home. In addition to what we do with kids in Preschool and Grade School on Sundays and Wednesdays, we support parents through training, resources and parent seminars to better equip you in your God-given role with your kids.

Resources for Parents
Lakewood has partnered with several ministries to provide parents with biblical, relevant, and practical parenting resources. Click the link below to explore these free resources including websites, videos, articles, podcasts, Bible studies, discussion guides, and more to help you invest in the spiritual life of your kids. You’ll also see information about our curriculum plan for what we’re teaching in our Preschool and Grade School ministry environments on Sunday morning along with resources to help you reinforce these spiritual truths in your home. We hope you will find this resources helpful as you seek to invest in the spiritual life of your kids.
Events

Parent-Child Dedication
Parent-Child Dedication is a time where the church partners with you, as the parents, as you publicly commit to raise your child(ren) in a Christian home and church. Our desire is to come alongside the parents as they teach their little ones to know and love the Lord and to follow His commands (see Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and Psalm 78:1-7). During this time you will hear a brief challenge and your child will be prayed for, by name, from our Senior Pastor and Ministry Staff. Family and friends are encouraged to join us for this special time. Please join us on March 9 to help us celebrate.

Kids Camp 2025
Kids Camp will be held at Alexander Stephens State Park the week of June 2-6. Register your 2ND-5TH GRADE CAMPER now and take advantage of the Early Bird Special. During this week of outdoor fun and group Bible study, we will explore what it means to be “Like a Tree” as set forth in Psalm 1:1-3 Campers will enjoy activities designed to help them understand that when we delight ourselves in the Lord and in His word, we can be a “Like a Tree” firmly planted and prosper! We will seek to teach and celebrate the concepts of spiritual discipline, strength of character, community with other believers, and sharing what we believe.
