ABOUT

Who We Are

We are the kids ministry of Lakewood Baptist Church: a ministry to kids from birth through 5th grade and their families.  We exist to partner with parents to raise up a biblically-literate, fully devoted generation of believers in Jesus Christ.  Our sincere hope is that every child would have a Bible in their hand, a purpose in their life, and the Savior in their heart.

Kids Cove

Kids Cove is our expansive kids ministry space in which we have three unique learning environments.  WeeCare is a designated, secure space where we provide care for our smallest kids (birth to 2 years old).  GroZone is a multi-classroom space with an indoor playground where we minister to our preschoolers (ages 2-5).  Finally, the Kids Cove area is designed to accomodate large and small group gatherings for our grade school children (Kindergarten through 5th grade).

Lakewood Kids Weekday

Kids Cove Weekday is an extension of our preschool ministry to children and their families. We offer a half day program (8:45 AM – 12:45 PM) with two, three and five-day options available for children 12 months through four years (PreK). We are blessed to have teachers that love the Lord and children and offer activities throughout the school year to provide hands-on learning with an engaging curriculum.  We work alongside parents during this time in a child’s life to help provide academic and scriptural foundation.

BABIES THROUGH PRE-K

Everything we teach our preschoolers is based on one of three simple, but powerful, truths.

God Made Me

God Loves Me

Jesus Wants To Be My Friend Forever

The entire curriculum is constructed to incite wonder in a preschooler and meet them where they are cognitively, spiritually, physically, emotionally and socially. Through age appropriate activities, preschoolers are building their spiritual foundation so that by the time they graduate to Kindergarten they know the three basic truths.

GRADE SCHOOL

Kids are taught Bible stories and truths in creative and relevant ways. Application of spiritual concepts is reinforced in small groups where they also receive care and instruction from an adult leader.

Wednesdays

6:15-7:45 PM

Wednesday Nights

PRESCHOOL

Our preschoolers develop a missions heart as they move from a focus on themselves to a focus on others on Wednesday nights from 6:15-7:45. Preschoolers will grow toward God as they become aware that God wants everyone to know of His love.

GRADE SCHOOL

On Wednesday evenings during the school year we gather for our Kids Ministry Wednesday Night programs from 6:15-7:45 PM. This mid-week program helps Grade Schoolers build a lasting foundation of Bible Skills and Bible memorization, learn from a strong life application, experience small group discipleship, and offers a deep emphasis on missions.

Parents

Overview of Parent Ministry

We believe that parents are called to be the primary spiritual leaders for their kids (see Deuteronomy 6:1-9 and Ephesians 6:4). Our role in church is to come alongside parents and support you in this incredible responsibility by reinforcing the truths you are teaching in your home. In addition to what we do with kids in Preschool and Grade School on Sundays and Wednesdays, we support parents through training, resources and parent seminars to better equip you in your God-given role with your kids.

Lakewood has partnered with Ministry to Parents to provide you with FREE parenting resources each month. Parent-Child Dedication

Parent-Child Dedication is the act of giving back to God the gift he has given to you. It is an act of worship, thanksgiving, trust, and commitment. The ceremony is an opportunity to commit to raising your child with the knowledge of the Christian faith before God, your friends and family. The ceremony also reminds parents to depend on God and His resources, including the church family and friends, to help nurture their children.

Parent-Child Dedication will be held on August 18, 2024 at 4pm in the Chapel.
