ABOUT

Who We Are

We are the Kids Ministry of Lakewood Baptist Church: a ministry to kids from birth through 5th grade and their families. On Sundays and Wednesdays, we gather in Kids Cove (our Kids Ministry Facility). Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ by helping kids LOVE God, LOVE people, and LEARN His Word. You can read below to find out more about what takes place on Sundays and Wednesdays, along with upcoming events and ways we partner with parents to invest in spiritual development within the next generation.

Kids Cove

Kids Cove is our expansive kids ministry space in which we have three unique learning environments. Our Nursery is a designated, secure space where we provide care for our smallest kids (birth to 2 years old). Our Preschool area is a multi-classroom space with an indoor playground where we minister to our preschoolers (ages 2-5).  Finally, the Grade School area is designed to accommodate large and small group gatherings for our grade school children (Kindergarten through 5th grade).

Lakewood Kids Weekday

Lakewood Kids Weekday is an extension of our preschool ministry to children and their families. We offer a half day program (8:45 AM – 12:45 PM) with two, three and five-day options available for children 12 months through four years (PreK). We are blessed to have teachers that love the Lord and children and offer activities throughout the school year to provide hands-on learning with an engaging curriculum.  We work alongside parents during this time in a child’s life to help provide academic and scriptural foundation. If you have any questions about our Weekday program, please contact the Weekday Director, Jennie Tomlin.

Sundays in Preschool

BABIES THROUGH PRE-K

On Sunday mornings, there is a place for everyone (infants – PreK) during our 9:30 and 11:00 worship services in environments designed specifically for our youngest children (check-in begins 15 minutes before the service). Our staff and volunteer leaders will help kids experience the love of Christ through care, playing, singing and hearing an age-appropriate Bible story. Learn more about our Preschool Curriculum and find parent resources you can use at home through the link below.

GRADE SCHOOL

On Sunday mornings, Grade School Kids (K – 5th Grade) are invited to join us in the Kids Cove building during the 9:30 or 11 worship service (check-in starts 15 minutes before the service) for an environment designed especially for kids. Our staff and volunteer leaders will help kids learn about God through engaging our kids in different interactive and creative ways including social connect time, large group worship, teaching, small groups and games. Learn more about our GO! Curriculum to help kids know God and His Word, love Him completely and serve Him in their lives through the link below.

Wednesdays in Preschool

PRESCHOOL

Our preschoolers develop a missions heart as they move from a focus on themselves to a focus on others on Wednesday nights from 6:15-7:45. Preschoolers will grow toward God as they become aware that God wants everyone to know of His love.

Wednesdays in Kids

GRADE SCHOOL

On Wednesday evenings during the school year we gather for our Kids Ministry Wednesday Night programs from 6:15-7:45 PM. This mid-week program helps Grade Schoolers build a lasting foundation of Bible Skills and Bible memorization, experience small group discipleship, and offers a deep emphasis on missions.

Parents

Overview of Parent Ministry

We believe that parents are called to be the primary spiritual leaders for their kids (see Deuteronomy 6:1-9 and Ephesians 6:4). Our role in church is to come alongside parents and support you in this incredible responsibility by reinforcing the truths you are teaching in your home. In addition to what we do with kids in Preschool and Grade School on Sundays and Wednesdays, we support parents through training, resources and parent seminars to better equip you in your God-given role with your kids.

Resources for Parents

Lakewood has partnered with several ministries to provide parents with biblical, relevant, and practical parenting resources. Click the link below to explore these free resources including websites, videos, articles, podcasts, Bible studies, discussion guides, and more to help you invest in the spiritual life of your kids. You’ll also see information about our curriculum plan for what we’re teaching in our Preschool and Grade School ministry environments on Sunday morning along with resources to help you reinforce these spiritual truths in your home. We hope you will find this resources helpful as you seek to invest in the spiritual life of your kids.

Strategic Parenting

Parenting isn’t something we leave to chance in today’s world—we need a strategy. Over six engaging weeks, Strategic Parenting will equip moms, dads, and guardians with seven Bible-anchored, research-based practices that make faith formation a natural part of your everyday family rhythm. Taught by Dr. Jamie Willis, Lakewood’s Next Generation Pastor, and his wife, Joy, this class is built on the findings of Jamie’s doctoral research on passing faith to the next generation, blending biblical truth with practical application. Whether you’re raising preschoolers, elementary-aged kids, or teenagers, you’ll gain a clear framework and practical tools to help your children develop an authentic, lasting faith. Join us Wednesday nights beginning August 19 and discover how to intentionally shape your family’s spiritual legacy.

Parent Child Dedication

Our next Parent Child Dedication will be September 27, 2026.

Child Dedication is a time for parents to publicly commit to raise their children in a Christian home and church. As a church, we partner with parents as they teach these little ones to know and love the Lord. We invite our church family to attend and support these parents as they make this important commitment. See below to register for Parent Child Dedication and upload photos.

Deadline to register and upload photos is September 16, 2026. We do have a capacity limit for this event.  Once we reach that limit, we will move to a waiting list.
