ABOUT
Who We Are
The special needs ministry of Lakewood Baptist Church, breaks down barriers for individuals of all ages with special needs, allowing them to participate fully in Lakewood activities alongside their peers.
CHILDREN
Children
Our desire is to come alongside individuals and families with special needs so everyone feels welcomed and included in all Lakewood services and programs. This ministry allows parents and caregivers to worship and build community with confidence, knowing their child’s unique needs are met.
We meet with each family to determine the level of support every child needs to learn about Jesus in a safe, loving environment. Each child is paired with a trained buddy who helps make the classroom accessible and engaging for children of all abilities.
Special Needs children meet on Sundays at 9:30 AM & 11:00 AM and Wednesdays nights at 6:15-7:45 PM.
ADULTS
Adults
Sunday Morning Bible Study | 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
This study helps participants learn Bible history and see how Jesus is the central theme throughout both the Old and New Testaments.
Monday Bible Study | 11:00-1:00 PM (lunch provided)
This Bible study for adults with special needs offers friendship, learning God’s Word, and community. This study presents the weekly sermon in a simple, clear way for adults with special needs. Parents and caregivers are welcome to join to support spiritual growth and understanding of the Gospel.
EVENTS
Respite
Respite Nights – 3rd Saturday of Each Month
5:00–8:00 PM
Respite Nights give children with special needs and their siblings a fun, safe evening with trained volunteers while parents enjoy a well-deserved night off.
