The Day Death Died

I love to celebrate Easter for many, many reasons, but the best reason that I love Easter is because it reminds me that death died. The Easter Story makes two of my most favorite scriptures possible:

“Whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:26).

“The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever” (1 John 2:17).

Easter is all about how when Jesus died on the cross, He conquered sin and when He rose again from the dead, He defeated death. Many of us don’t like talking about death, but actually Easter is all about death, that is Jesus conquering death.

Easter is a day that marks the death of death. Death died when Christ rose. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die” (John 11:25-26). Don’t get me wrong, I understand that people still die. I understand that our bodies go into a grave. However, the point is: because of Jesus’ resurrection, death is not the end. Sure, our bodies go into the ground, but the soul lives on forever. And, the Bible says that one day our bodies will be resurrected as well.

Praise God! When Jesus died and rose, He rendered death powerless. Trust Jesus and His sacrificial death today. Receive Jesus today by professing faith in His death and resurrection.

You don’t have to die! He is RISEN!
