OCC 2011 was a big success! Thanks to everyone who prayed, packed a shoebox or participated at our collection center last week. We collected 14,800 shoeboxes from NE Georgia with Lakewood contributing 940 shoeboxes and almost 300 hours of volunteer time. This was our third and best year serving as a collection center!

Lakewood joined with Under the Bridge Ministries and J & J Foods to provide families with a complete Thanksgiving meal in a box for $25. Volunteers met in the Fellowship Hall to assemble food boxes and then went to Linwood and Melrose apartments to give boxes away to families in need.

A group of families from Lakewood traveled to Guatemala in July 2011 to minister to the people in the Dump that Lakewood supports.

For nearly twenty years, Samaritan’s Purse has been collecting and sending Christmas Shoeboxes to children all over the globe. This year we served as an official OCC Collection Center in November. Pray, Participate, Pack!
