![]() ![]() Frequently Asked QuestionsWhy should I be a part of Group Life?Practically speaking, there will never be a way for the staff or deacons to personally minister to everyone who attends Lakewood. That's why we place such a high premium on group life. It's how we minister effectively to those who attend our church. What happens in a group? In each of our group life environments, people study and memorize God's Word together and discuss the issues and challenges of life. They pray and care for one another. They “do life” together. How do I get connected to a group? To get connected to a group you can visit one of our Information Centers and pick up a Group Finder brochure and Group Facts booklet to see our Sunday morning offerings. In addition, you can speak with a Connector to learn more about our groups. Or, simply contact Scott Smith and he'll help you get connected - ssmith@lakewoodlife.org. How often do groups meet? Most groups meet weekly. Some Community Groups meet on a bi-monthly or monthly basis. What if I don't find a group that fits me perfectly? As we grow and offer more groups there will be a greater opportunity for you to get into a group that matches your needs. Remember, being in a group is essential to feeling connected to Lakewood. Also, we’ve found the imperfections of groups and people are one of the main pathways God uses to conform us more to the image of Christ. So try to be as flexible as you can when picking a group. What if I want to lead a group? Group Life leaders at Lakewood have been recommended by other leaders in the church. So the first step to leading a group is to be connected to a group yourself. In addition to having group experience you should have F.A.I.T.H. Finally, you will need to attend all appropriate leader orientation and training sessions.
