Deacon Ministry

We are extremely grateful for our Deacon Ministry at Lakewood. We presently have over 50 men ministering in the vital New Testament role of Deacon Minister. Since our Senior Pastor, Dr. Smiley, arrived at Lakewood Baptist Church we have seen our Deacon Ministry move from a “management” group to the New Testament “ministry” role as is so clearly taught in scripture.

Currently our Deacon Ministers serve as care ministers to our widowers, widows, and home bound and serve on ministry teams to visit local hospitals. In addition, our Deacon Ministers serve as prayer and decision counselors during special worship opportunities and in each of our three morning worship services. Our Deacon Ministers also serve as emergency and on call crisis care givers.

I have watched with great appreciation the Deacon Ministers of Lakewood Baptist Church serve with compassion, commitment and true sense of calling.
