Family Promise of Hall County

To the Board of Directors of Family Promise of Hall County:

When Lakewood Baptist Church joined Family Promise of Hall County at its inception, we believed, organizationally, that Family Promise of Hall County and Lakewood Baptist Church held in common the goal to meet physical needs and the call to make disciples of Jesus.

In recent interaction with the Executive Director of Family Promise of Hall County, it was made clear we don’t hold this common goal or ministry objective.

While Lakewood understands that some of the supporting churches and faithful volunteers hold this common objective, organizationally, Family Promise does not.  The Director of Family Promise of Hall County has stipulated this difference to us.

While Lakewood affirms the value in addressing physical needs, as is revealed by our financial investment in meeting such needs locally, nationally and globally, we also are committed to the full Gospel mandate to make disciples of Jesus.

Lakewood believes the best investment of resources entrusted to our stewardship should be given to organizations that strive to BOTH meet the physical needs of people and make disciples of Jesus.

The Lakewood Leadership has determined to suspend our association with and support of Family Promise of Hall County effective May 1, 2016.

We hope the best for The Board of Directors, the Executive Director, paid staff and volunteers of Family Promise of Hall County; and we trust you appreciate our position.

Sincerely,

Lakewood Baptist Church
Dr. Tom Smiley, Senior Pastor
